Pocahontas Costume for Adults

The Pocohantas costume is beased on the 1995 Disney movie called (appropriately) Pocahontas. Did you know it was the first Disney film based on a historical character?

Pocahontas is of course the story of the Native American princess by the same name. The movie is a fictionalized (Disney-ized) version of the meeting between Pocahontas and the English explorer John Smith.

The year is 1607, and Pocahontas is horrified when she learns she is to be married to Kocoum. While Kocoum is one of the tribe's finest warriors, she is most definitely not attracted to him. Pocahontas asks the advice of the tree spirit Grandmother Willow, who tells her to listen to her heart.

Pocahantas meets up with John Smith in the wilderness, and she teaches John not to think of her people as savages, but as people who just see the world in a different way.

After all is said and done in the movie, John Smith and Pocahontas never do marry; he is shot defending her father, the Chief, and must return to England for medical care. Sadly, Pocahontas waves him goodbye.
